Artwork Statement

In this abstracted monochrome art work of ink on canvas Thomas references black rain, a man made phenomenon connected severe pollution conditions or nuclear fallout. Although the subject matter is dark the pattering and of line and colour in this black and white piece is complex and beautiful. 

Thomas’s thought during creation of this Abstraction of black rain.

Could there be such a thing called “black Rain”?.

In fact there is “Black Rain” which has caused acute radiation symptoms (ARS) in many who were exposed to it, with reports of people suffering from nausea and diarrhoea for weeks. Other ARS include fever, sore throat and loss of hair. Over time, many people who were exposed to black rain have developed cancer. 

Black Rain contaminated by fungi spores, soot, or other particulate matter. One of the mass of small drops of water that fall from the sky when it is raining. Thomas discovers that there is at least 10 synonyms, antonyms, idiomatic expressions, and related words for raindrop, like: drop, sprinkle, dewdrop, ripple, cloud, spume, snowflake, windowpane, storm-cloud and rain.
